Zoom Nation

We are now many months into the pandemic and my group fitness classes have found a permanent home on the internet. I am still not sure how I feel about this change.

I miss my students. I miss the interactions we had. I miss being able to truly teach- to correct mistakes and challenge students to do more, try harder.

But there are some nice additions. My out-of-state students can join in, I don’t have empty classes when the weather is bad and I can teach from anywhere.

So where do we go from here? I don’t know. My studio is small, to small to safely teach inside. My students have continued to show up and I continue to show up for them. I no longer feel like this is a pause on ‘getting back to reality’ I think it is reality. So I log in, I bring a back up device and I teach on.

As a yoga teacher I excel at being flexible.

  1. I, for one, have come to appreciate what a zoom yoga can provide for me personally. I can practice with a minute’s preparation, in old clothes, and enjoy the solitude of my own space. I miss the fun in -studio experience, corrections of my poses, and the challenge of trying to keep up. But my love of yoga has continued to grow, as has my admiration for you, Caren, in providing a smooth well taught session every time!
